The area is within the buffer of the Monviso UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and the Parco del Monviso begins farther up the mountain valleys to the west. The nearest substantial town is Saluzzo, which has a preserved historic centre, a hilltop old town and the Marchesato castle complex.
