The cluster sits in the Langhe hills, with vine-covered ridges, wooded folds and scattered farmhouses within the immediate landscape. The Tanaro valley is nearby to the north, and the Ligurian Alps are visible on clear days from higher ground in this part of southern Piemonte. This is wine country: Dogliani gives its name to a DOCG red, and the surrounding hills are part of the wider Langhe viticultural landscape. Barolo and Monforte d'Alba are within roughly 15 km, and the area around them is known for vineyards, wine villages and cellar towns. The Langhe-Roero and Monferrato UNESCO World Heritage vineyard landscape includes nearby zones in this part of the hills. Alba is the nearest larger town, with services, rail links and the white truffle market for which the wider area is known.
