The cluster is at the foot of the Cottian Alps, with the lower Varaita and Maira valley systems close by and the first alpine relief beginning just west of the built-up plain. The Maira and Varaita rivers run through this part of the Cuneo plain. The nearest substantial town is Cuneo, which provides the main services and rail connections for the area. Saluzzo is also nearby and has a preserved historic centre below the Monviso area. Monviso is visible in the wider landscape to the northwest, but it is farther away than the immediate 15 km setting. This part of Piemonte is known for fruit growing and for being the approach zone to the Occitan valleys of the southwest Alps.
