The cluster is in the built-up area of Cuneo, at the meeting of the Stura di Demonte and Gesso valleys with the plain. The Maritime Alps are the mountain backdrop within this radius, with the lower valley entrances immediately around the city. The Parco naturale delle Alpi Marittime lies to the south-west, but beyond the 15 km landscape radius. Limone Piemonte is the nearest established ski area, roughly an hour away by road depending on the starting point. Cuneo itself is the nearest town of size, with a long arcaded centre, the large Piazza Galimberti, rail links and the main services for the surrounding valleys. The area is known for being the gateway from the Cuneo plain into the Alpine valleys and for the food culture of the province, including chestnuts, cheeses and beef from the nearby uplands.
