This is the flat southern Piedmont plain between Turin and the first Alpine foothills. The Po plain landscape dominates within the immediate area, with fields, drainage canals and small roads between compact towns. The nearest larger town is Carmagnola, which has a substantial historic centre, rail links and everyday services; farther out, Turin is the main city for higher-level services and work. This part of the province is known for mixed agriculture and livestock farming.
