The Ellero valley and other alpine valleys open south of Mondovì, and the main Maritime and Ligurian Alpine ridges are within this 15 km landscape. The nearest ski lifts are around Frabosa Soprana, Prato Nevoso and Artesina, roughly 15–25 minutes by road from Mondovì depending on the exact starting point. Mondovì itself is the main town nearby, with a substantial historic upper town, services, rail connection and a regional role for the surrounding valleys. The wider area is known for the transition from Langhe-style hills to alpine valleys and for access toward the mountain resorts of the Mondolè area.
