Much of the surrounding mountain area falls within the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime and the French border ridge is close by. The nearest ski area is Argentera, about 15 km up the valley, with larger lifts at Limone Piemonte farther away and not inside the immediate area. Vinadio is known for the Forte Albertino, the 19th-century Savoy fortress built across the valley, and for mountain access toward the Colle della Maddalena road to France.
