The area lies inside the Monviso Natural Park and on the Italian side of the Monviso UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Crissolo is one of the main access points for the Monviso massif and the high alpine basin around Pian della Regina and Pian del Re. The nearest ski area is the Crissolo-Monviso ski domain above the village. Saluzzo is the nearest substantial town, with a historic centre and services. The area is known above all for Monviso and for the source of the Po.
