Ceva sits in the upper Tanaro valley where the Ligurian Apennines begin, with wooded ridges and low mountains around the town. The Tanaro and Cevetta rivers meet here. The area is a road and rail gateway between inland Piemonte and the Ligurian side, with hills, valley floors and mixed woodland rather than a single protected landmark landscape. Mondovì is the nearest larger town of size, with a historic upper town and full services. This part of southern Piemonte is known for hazelnuts, mixed farming and as the approach to the Alta Val Tanaro and the Ligurian Alps farther south.
