Monolocale in Crissolo

The cluster is in the upper Po valley at the foot of Monviso in the Cottian Alps. The River Po rises above Crissolo at Pian del Re, a few kilometres upstream. The area lies inside the Monviso Natural Park and on the Italian side of the Monviso UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Crissolo is one of the main access points for the Monviso massif and the high alpine basin around Pian della Regina and Pian del Re. The nearest ski area is the Crissolo-Monviso ski domain above the village. Saluzzo is the nearest substantial town, with a historic centre and services. The area is known above all for Monviso and for the source of the Po.
