The Po rises on Monviso above Pian del Re, and Monviso dominates the skyline from this part of the valley. The Parco del Monviso begins up-valley, and the upper Po valley is the main named landscape feature of the area. The nearest ski lifts are the small facilities at Rucas near Bagnolo Piemonte, roughly 20–30 minutes by road, while the larger lifts of Crissolo are about 35–45 minutes away.
