C.DA GATTA, snc, Piazza Armerina

The area sits in the inland hills of central-eastern Sicily, with cultivated slopes, wheat fields, olive groves and scattered valleys typical of the Calatino interior. The nearest larger town is Caltagirone, which has full services, a substantial historic centre and is known for ceramics. Piazza Armerina is also nearby and is known for the Roman mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This part of inland Catania province is known for agriculture and for the chain of hill towns between Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina.
