The area is in the interior hills of central Sicily near the eastern side of the Erei uplands. Lake Pozzillo lies just outside the town and is the main landscape feature within the local area. The Simeto valley is nearby, with a farmed inland landscape of cereals, olive groves and low hills. Adrano and Paternò are the nearest larger towns toward the Catania plain, where daily services and rail connections are found. Mount Etna is visible in the broader eastern horizon on clear days, but it is outside the local 15 km landscape. The area is known for inland Sicilian agriculture rather than for a protected or officially designated landscape.
