Enna sits on a high ridge with broad views over the inland grain country, and the area is known for wheat, olive groves and inland Sicilian hill agriculture. The nearest larger centre is Caltanissetta, while Enna itself is the main town of this part of the island with everyday services, schools and rail and road connections. Villa Romana del Casale at Piazza Armerina is an important UNESCO site in the wider area, but it is outside the immediate 15 km landscape.
