The cluster is on the Adriatic coast at Lido di Fermo, with a long built seafront and beaches on the shoreline. The Tenna and Ete Vivo river mouths are nearby on this stretch of coast. Fermo itself stands just inland on a hill and has a substantial historic centre with the Piazza del Popolo, the Roman cisterns and the cathedral area. Torre di Palme, a small historic hill village above the coast, is within this area and is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. The nearest larger town is Porto San Giorgio, immediately to the north, with the port, seafront services and rail connections on the coastal line. This part of the southern Marche coast is known for beach tourism and for the combination of seafront settlements with cultivated hills just inland.
