The cluster is on the Adriatic side of southern Marche, with the coast of Porto San Giorgio and the mouth area of the Tenna close by. The Sibillini Mountains rise inland and are the main mountain backdrop for this part of the province, with Monti Sibillini National Park beginning farther inland. Fermo is the nearest town of size, with a hilltop historic centre, cathedral and theatre. This stretch of coast is known for beaches, fishing and seaside towns, while the inland part of the province is known for farmed hills and villages.
