The area sits in the Alto Monferrato hills, with vineyard slopes, mixed woods and low ridges rather than high mountains. The Bormida river system runs through the Acqui Terme area. Acqui Terme itself is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre, Roman remains and thermal baths. Within this part of southern Piedmont the landscape is known for wine hills and spa culture, with Monferrato wine country extending around the town.
