The cluster is in the Val Borbera, with the Ligurian Apennines close around it. The Borbera river runs through the valley, and the upper valley has gorges and natural pools around Pertuso and Cantalupo Ligure within this area. The Alta Val Borbera is part of the Appennino Piemontese protected area system, and the Antola massif is nearby to the south. The nearest substantial town is Tortona, which provides rail connections, shops and services. The area is known for wooded Apennine valleys, scattered hamlets and summer river bathing spots.
