This is the flat lower Po plain around Ferrara, with the Po di Volano and the branch systems of the Po delta in the wider area. The Parco regionale del Delta del Po is nearby east of the city, with lagoons, reclaimed farmland and wetlands. Ferrara is the nearest large town and has a major historic centre with the Este Castle and the Renaissance Addizione Erculea; the city is part of the UNESCO listing for Ferrara, City of the Renaissance, and its Po Delta. The area is known for irrigated agriculture and for the landscape of reclaimed plain and waterways.
