This is the lower Po plain around the Po di Volano and the drainage-canal landscape east of Ferrara, with flat farmland, embankments and scattered reclaimed land settlements. Ferrara is the nearest city of size, with a large historic centre and UNESCO status linked to the Renaissance city and the Po Delta. The Po Delta Regional Park lies partly within this radius toward the east, with wetlands, pinewoods and lagoons in the delta area. The area is known for irrigated agriculture and land reclamation.
