This is the lower plain between Ravenna and the Po Delta, with reclaimed agricultural land, drainage canals and pinewoods toward the coast. The Reno River reaches the Adriatic a short distance east of Alfonsine. The southern part of the Po Delta Regional Park is within this radius, including the wetland and lagoon areas around Valle Mandriole and the mouth zones toward Casalborsetti. Ravenna is the nearest city of size, with extensive historic monuments including UNESCO-listed early Christian buildings. The wider area is known for wetlands, birdlife, fishing valleys and reclaimed farmland.
