The cluster sits in the Mugello, in the northern Tuscan Apennine foothills, with wooded ridges and farmed valleys on the way up toward Monte Giovi and the higher Apennine crest farther north. The nearest ski area is Monte Cimone in Emilia, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by road, so it is not a local landscape feature. Florence is the nearest major city, with its full range of services and monuments, about half an hour away by road or rail. The Mugello is known for its villas and country estates linked to the Medici, for mixed farming and woods, and for the Mugello Circuit nearby at Scarperia.
