Scarperia (Sant'Agata) - Porzione di colonica

The cluster is in the Mugello basin, with the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines close by to the north and east. The Sieve river runs through this part of Mugello. Lake Bilancino lies nearby and is the main body of water in the area. Part of the territory falls within the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park area on the Apennine side, though the core around Scarperia and San Piero is mainly settled valley and cultivated hills. The nearest substantial town is Florence, which provides the full range of city services and is connected by road and rail from Mugello. Scarperia is known for knife-making, and the Mugello area more broadly for its agricultural basin and villas.
