The cluster is in the Mugello basin, with the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines close to the northeast. The Sieve river runs through Vicchio and the wider Mugello valley. Much of the mountain area within reach is inside the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park and the forested ridges around Monte Giovi and the passes toward Romagna shape the local horizon. The nearest ski area is Monte Faggiola on the Firenzuola side of Mugello, a small local field reached by a mountain drive of about an hour in season. Borgo San Lorenzo is the nearest larger town, with rail links, shops and services, and Florence is the main city used for higher-level services and is part of everyday logistics by road or train. The area is known for the Mugello landscape of broad cultivated valley floor, wooded hills and chestnut country, and for Giotto and Beato Angelico connections around Vicchio.
