The cluster is inside the built-up area of Florence, in the Arno valley between the Florentine hills of Fiesole, Settignano and Bellosguardo. The Arno crosses the city. Florence itself is the nearest major centre and has one of Italy’s largest concentrations of historic monuments, museums and churches, with the historic centre on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The area is known for Renaissance art and architecture and for the vineyard-and-olive hill country immediately around the city.
