The cluster is in the Mugello, at the meeting of the Sieve valley with the valleys that rise into the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. The Monti del Mugello and the first Apennine ridges are within the local horizon, and the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park begins to the east on the high ground around Monte Falterona, the source area of the Arno. The Sieve river runs through Dicomano. Borgo San Lorenzo is the nearest larger town and has the main services of the Mugello; Florence is the main city used for higher-order services and rail connections. The area is known for mixed hill farming, woods and chestnut country typical of the Mugello and upper Sieve valleys.
