Much of the mountain area within reach is inside the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park and the forested ridges around Monte Giovi and the passes toward Romagna shape the local horizon. The nearest ski area is Monte Faggiola on the Firenzuola side of Mugello, a small local field reached by a mountain drive of about an hour in season. Borgo San Lorenzo is the nearest larger town, with rail links, shops and services, and Florence is the main city used for higher-level services and is part of everyday logistics by road or train.
