Lake Bilancino is just west of Borgo San Lorenzo, within the local basin. The Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna lies to the east on the Apennine crest, with Monte Falterona and the source area of the Arno in that direction. The nearest ski area is Monte Faggiola on the Muraglione side, with the better-known lifts of Abetone much farther away and not part of the immediate landscape.
