The Lamone valley runs through Marradi, and the area is close to the Parco nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna on the Tuscan-Romagnol ridge. Skiing is not local to the village; the nearest small Apennine ski areas are on the Muraglione-Campigna side or at Monte Fumaiolo, roughly around 1 to 1.5 hours by road depending on conditions. Faenza is the nearest larger town with full services and rail connections on the valley line, and Florence is much farther beyond the mountain crossings. Marradi is known for chestnuts, especially the marrone del Mugello, and for the surrounding chestnut woods and mixed mountain forest.
