The cluster is on the Gargano promontory, with limestone hills, pine woods and a broken Adriatic coast inside the local landscape. The Adriatic is nearby, and around Vieste the shore includes long sandy beaches as well as low cliffs and sea stacks, with the white monolith of Pizzomunno on the coast at Vieste. Much of the surrounding area falls within Gargano National Park. The nearest town of size is Vieste itself, a small coastal town with a historic center on a rocky point and a working port. The area is known for the Gargano coast, sea caves, pine forest and olive groves.
