The cluster is in the Manfredonia area on the Gulf of Manfredonia, with the Gargano promontory immediately to the north and Monte Sant'Angelo on the limestone slopes above the plain. The coast and salt-marsh system around the Lago Salso oasis lies within the local area, at the edge of Gargano National Park. Manfredonia is the nearest town of size and has a port, services, a seafront and a castle. Monte Sant'Angelo, within the same local landscape, is a UNESCO site for the Sanctuary of San Michele and is also listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. The area is known for the transition from the Tavoliere plain to the Gargano limestone massif, for wetlands near the gulf, and for pilgrimage routes linked to Monte Sant'Angelo.
