This is the Tavoliere plain around Ordona, with broad open agricultural land and very little relief. The Carapelle river runs in this part of the plain. Foggia is the nearest city of size, with the main rail station, services and airport. Ordona is known for the archaeological site of Herdonia, the Roman and pre-Roman settlement beside the old route across the plain.
