The area lies in the low hills of the Monti Dauni, with cultivated slopes, small valleys and long views typical of the inland western part of the province of Foggia. The Fortore river basin is nearby and shapes much of this upland landscape. Lucera is the nearest larger historic town of note, with services and a substantial old centre. The wider area is known for grain farming, olive groves and the Arbëreshë communities of the Monti Dauni, of which Casalvecchio di Puglia is one.
