This is the flat Tavoliere plain around Foggia, with large-scale arable farmland and a dense network of roads, rail lines and industrial and logistics areas around the city. The urban area of Foggia itself is a regional service centre with a railway hub, university facilities, hospitals and major retail. The Gargano promontory and the Daunia mountains are farther out and do not define the landscape within about 15 km.
