The coast here has limestone cliffs, small coves and long sandy beaches, including the bay system around Vieste and the sea stacks off the town. Much of the surrounding area falls within Gargano National Park, and the Foresta Umbra lies inland within the same 15 km landscape. Vieste is the main local town and has a working old centre on a rock above the sea, a port and full daily services. The area is known for the Gargano coast, sea caves, pine woods and olive groves.
