The cluster is in the first Apennine hills of Romagna, in the Bidente valley. The Bidente river runs through this area. The Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park begins farther up the same valley and is within about 15 km to the southwest, with forested Apennine ridges around Campigna and the Muraglione side beyond. The nearest substantial town is Forlì, which provides the main services, rail connections and a larger urban centre for the valley. This part of Romagna is known for mixed hill farming, woodland and small historic villages along the road from the plain into the Apennines.
