The area sits on the first hills between the Romagna plain and the Adriatic side of the Apennines. The Uso valley runs through this part of inland Romagna, with cultivated slopes, small woods and scattered villages. Cesena is the nearest town of size, with full services, a railway station, hospitals, schools and a substantial historic centre. Rimini is also close enough for higher-order services and the airport. San Marino is nearby on Mount Titano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it lies outside the immediate 15 km landscape. This part of Romagna is known for mixed farming, vineyards and hill villages rather than for a single standout natural feature.
