The cluster is in the Valmarecchia, in the northern Apennines near the border with Tuscany and Marche. The Marecchia river valley is the main landscape feature here, with wooded slopes, pasture and cultivated clearings around small hill settlements. The Sasso Simone e Simoncello Regional Park lies nearby to the south-east, with the limestone table mountains of Sasso Simone and Simoncello within the local area. Monte Fumaiolo, source area of the Tiber, is also nearby in the same Apennine sector. The nearest larger town for services is Novafeltria in the valley, while Sansepolcro and Rimini are the main bigger centres used from this part of the upper valley. The area is known for upland Apennine scenery, borderland hill villages and routes through the upper Marecchia valley.
