The area is next to the lower slopes and side valley of Saint-Marcel, known for the former Servette mining area and for mid-mountain pasture and woodland above the main valley. Aosta is the nearest town of size and has the full set of daily services, a railway station, and major Roman monuments including the Arch of Augustus and the theatre. The Pila ski area above Aosta is the nearest major ski area, reached by road and lift connection in roughly half an hour from this side of the valley. Fénis, with its well-known castle, is a few kilometres down the valley.
