The Dora Baltea runs through this stretch of valley. The Gran Paradiso National Park begins just to the south in the valleys above Villeneuve and Introd, with access into the park area within about 15 km. The nearest ski lifts are in the Pila area above Aosta, roughly 20–30 minutes by road to the Aosta departure points, and in the Cogne valley about 35–45 minutes by road depending on the exact village. Aosta is the nearest town of size, with full services, rail connections, and a substantial Roman and medieval historic centre. Aymavilles is known for the Castello di Aymavilles, and this part of the valley is also known for vineyards and castles spread along the Dora Baltea corridor.
