The Mont Mars Nature Reserve is in this part of the valley above Fontainemore. The nearest ski lifts are in the Monterosa Ski area at Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Staffal, roughly 25–40 minutes up the valley by road. The nearest larger town is Pont-Saint-Martin at the mouth of the valley, with everyday services and the fort at Bard is a short drive down the Dora Baltea valley.
