Much of the area lies inside or against the Mont Avic Natural Park, known for alpine pastures, conifer woods and glacial lakes in the upper side valleys. The nearest ski lifts are at Chardonney in Champorcher, with the local ski area reached in a short drive within the same valley. The nearest larger town is Pont-Saint-Martin at the mouth of the valley, with everyday services and rail access; Ivrea is farther south outside the 15 km landscape. The area is known for alpine walking, small hamlets scattered on the valley sides, and access into the quieter southeastern side of Valle d’Aosta.
