Location score 82/100The cluster is in the main Aosta Valley with the Graian Alps and Pennine Alps rising around it. The Dora Baltea runs through this part of the valley. The Gran Paradiso National Park begins nearby to the south, with access up the Valsavarenche and Val di Rhêmes side valleys. Pila is the nearest major ski area, reached from Aosta in about 25–35 minutes by road to the lift base; other Aosta Valley ski domains are farther up the side valleys. Aosta is the nearest town of size and has the region’s main services and a substantial Roman centre with the Arch of Augustus, theatre and city walls. This stretch of valley is known for castles and for being the gateway to the Gran Paradiso valleys.
