Location score 77/100The cluster is in the Casentino, with the Apennines rising immediately to the east. The Arno begins on Monte Falterona above this valley, and the upper Arno runs through the Casentino floor near Bibbiena. The Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park starts a few kilometres east of town and covers the high forested ridge on the Tuscany-Romagna border. The nearest ski area is Campigna on the Romagna side of the ridge, roughly an hour by road depending on the exact village. Bibbiena is one of the main towns of the Casentino and has the usual services, rail links on the Arezzo-Stia line, and a historic centre; Poppi, a few kilometres away, is a walled hill town with the Conti Guidi castle and is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. The area is known for chestnut woods, forested mountain slopes, the Casentino valley, and the Sanctuary of La Verna on Mount Penna within the wider district.
