Much of the surrounding high ground falls within the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna and the adjacent protected forested ridge around Monte Fumaiolo is close by. The nearest skiing is the small Monte Fumaiolo area, roughly a 30 minute drive depending on the hamlet. Sansepolcro is the nearest larger town for services and a substantial historic centre. The area is known for forested mountain slopes, mountain roads and the upper course of the Tiber.
