The Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park begins nearby on the eastern side of the valley, with the upper Casentino forests and the Falterona area within local driving distance inside the 15 km radius. Bibbiena is the nearest larger town, with rail services, supermarkets and daily services, and Poppi is nearby with a substantial historic centre and castle. This part of the Casentino is known for chestnut woods, forested slopes and small stone villages spread along the valley sides.
