The lower Tronto valley and the first hills of the Piceno rise immediately inland, with the Sibillini Mountains visible farther west; the nearest substantial ski area is Monte Piselli above Ascoli Piceno, about 45 minutes by road, while the larger lifts around Monte Prata and Frontignano in the Sibillini are much farther and do not define the immediate setting. San Benedetto del Tronto is the nearest town of size and has a port, seafront and full services; Ascoli Piceno, with its travertine-built historic centre, is the main inland city nearby. Grottammare is known for its palm-lined seafront and for the older hilltop borgo above the coast.
