The Tronto river runs through the area. Within about 15 km there is the old centre of Ascoli Piceno, with Piazza del Popolo, travertine streets and churches, and the hill town of Offida is also nearby; Offida is in I Borghi più belli d'Italia. This part of southern Marche is known for olive ascolane and Rosso Piceno wine. The Adriatic coast around San Benedetto del Tronto is farther away and does not define the immediate landscape.
