Rustico in Monsampolo del Tronto

The area sits in the lower Tronto valley between the Adriatic coastal plain and the first hills of southern Marche, with the Sibillini and Gran Sasso massifs visible farther inland on clear days but outside the immediate landscape. The Tronto river runs nearby. San Benedetto del Tronto is the nearest larger town, with a seafront, port, rail station and the main services of this stretch of coast; Ascoli Piceno is the main historic city inland, with a substantial old centre and services. Within about 15 km the setting is mainly cultivated hills, river plain, scattered villages and the urbanised corridor toward the coast. The wider area is known for vineyards, olive groves and the connection between the Adriatic coast and the Tronto route into the interior.
