The Tronto river valley runs through Acquasanta Terme. Part of the municipal area lies in the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, and the Sibillini National Park is nearby on the mountain side of the province. The nearest ski areas are the small lifts at Monte Piselli above Ascoli Piceno, roughly an hour by road, with larger Abruzzo ski stations farther away. Ascoli Piceno is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre, services and rail connections. The area is known for mountain valleys, chestnut and beech woodland, stone hamlets and the long-standing thermal springs of Acquasanta.
